"Tailboard" is an old fire service term that referred to the rear bumper platform of the old open-cab fire engines, and the firefighters who used to ride there while responding to emergencies. While those days may be gone, the term is still worn as a point of pride by firefighters who respect those who came before us, and seek to emulate the passion and hard work they brought to the fire service.
"Two Tailboards" is simply that, two firefighters here in Austin, Texas blessed with careers serving the community we love, and sharing a passion for fine woodworking that both of us trace back to our grandfathers. Each project we accept is a creative journey taken with the client, from vision to design to construction to installation. Every project is hand built to last, with the highest quality materials we can source. We only take on one or two projects at a time, allowing us to give each the focus and attention they deserve, all while looking forward to seeing the clients eyes light up when they see the results of our dedication to this craft.

While our primary focus is custom cabinetry, from complete kitchens and office built-ins to master closet builds and more, we occasionally accept commissions for furniture and various home furnishings. Dining room tables, bedroom armoires, handmade doors, one-off chandeliers... A project that represents an opportunity for us to be creative, challenges our skills, and produces something beautiful and lasting for our client is a privilege for us to take on.
